About the US-China Music Institute
The Bard College Conservatory of Music and its US-China Music Institute, in partnership with the Central
Conservatory of Music in Beijing, offer a groundbreaking, undergraduate performance degree program in
selected Chinese instruments: Guzheng, Erhu, Pipa, Ruan, and Dizi.

This program builds on Bard’s existing five-year music and liberal arts and sciences double-degree program to combine the professional study of traditional Chinese instruments with a Western-style, liberal arts education. Students graduate with a bachelor of music degree, majoring in the performance of a Chinese instrument, and a bachelor of arts in a field other than music. Future graduates will transform the development of Chinese music in the West and in China, not only as musicians but also as leaders and thinkers.
