Bard MFA Presents: Bard Choir

Bard MFA Presents Bard Choir

As a way to present the contours of this unique department's approach to working through and thinking with music and sound, we invite you to a public "info session" at Fridman Gallery on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 7pm EST. Discipline co-chairs Kabir Carter (in person) and Bill Dietz (remote) will be present, as will recent alums Andrew Lee (in person) and Jamie Krasner (remote), to introduce the discipline and answer your questions.

Bard MFA's Music/Sound discipline has been committed to rethinking and expanding the notion of "experimental" music and sound practice for decades. Some of the discipline's recent faculty and visiting artists have included: Jlin, Diamanda Galas, Christine Sun Kim, Raven Chacon, Matana Roberts, Okkyung Lee, and Moor Mother.

In keeping with music/sound's deep commitment to embodied knowledge and thinking through practice, you are also invited to participate! For years, Music/Sound has hosted an informal, student led format known as "Bard Choir." By no means a literal choir, Bard Choir is an unruly, noisy, participatory gathering in which anyone in the program wanting to make any kinds of sounds is welcome. Now, we're excited to invite anyone interested in Bard MFA's Music/Sound discipline to participate in the first ever off-campus, public iteration of Bard Choir.

We'll supply a PA and mixer. You bring whatever else you might need. Bring an instrument. Bring something noisy. Remote participation is also possible!

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
